Q: What sets an Arts and Crafts Kitchen apart from other cabinetry?

A: In a nutshell, the details. You will notice some of the details immediately while others may elude you for years. We always book match the panels in our doors and our upper drawers will always be made from one continuous piece of wood, in order for the grain to flow across the face of your cabinets. We offer a “stepped” inset type of construction, in which our doors and drawer fronts are recessed in from the front of the frames. Also, you will never see a seam from one cabinet to another, as our construction techniques have solved that all too common problem.

Q: Do you offer installation?

A: Sometimes we are able to offer installation; often we can do a consultation with your contractor or installer for a nominal fee. Our cabinetry is very easy to install, and always fits the space for which it was designed.

Q: What are your payment terms?

A: Our terms are as follows: We require a 10% deposit to guarantee you a place on our production schedule, as well as cover the costs of design and developing drawings. Upon approval, we then need a 40% deposit to begin production of your cabinetry. When your cabinets are finished, and have passed our quality control tests, 40% is then due before we ship your cabinets. Upon receipt and your inspection of the cabinets, the final 10% is due as a c.o.d. payment. Your cabinets are shipped fully insured, and will arrive in the same condition as they left our shop.

Q: Where are you located?

A: We are located in Carson City, NV about half an hour from beautiful Lake Tahoe. We invite you to take a day out of your schedule and visit us, and the Lake as well. You are always welcome to stop by and see your cabinets as they are being built.

Q: What steps are necessary for me to order cabinets from Arts and Crafts Kitchens?

A: First, call us to begin the design process. Second, we will need some dimensions, not precise, just close enough is fine at this point. Third, we need to know what appliances you are going to be installing, if you are right or left handed, your (and your spouses’) height, and how often you cook. Lastly, we like to know what type of flooring, countertop, and backsplash you will be using. This information helps us to design a kitchen that will suit you as an individual, and meet and exceed all of your expectations.

Q: Is there anything else I should know?

A: Yes, most likely we have not answered all the questions you may have. Feel free to give us a call, and we will answer any questions you may have.

Q: Where can I see your work?

A: We would like for you to see our work up close and personal. In order to do that without the expense of dealers and showrooms, we have a couple sample cabinets we are able to send to serious potential clients. If you would like to see one of our sample cabinets, we ask for a deposit, which is deducted from the cost of your kitchen, to cover shipping and handling costs. We will allow you to keep the sample cabinet for a period of one week, after which we ask that you ship it back using the included shipping label.

Q: How are your cabinets constructed?

A: We utilize dado and rabbet construction in our boxes. A dado is a groove cut in a panel the width of the piece that fits in the groove. A rabbet is a groove like a dado, except on the edge of a panel. All joints are glued and stapled. Doors utilize mortise and tenon joinery. Drawers utilize dovetails or, as an option, box joints or dowels.

Q: Can you work with my architect?

A: Yes, we will work with your architect, interior designer, or yourself to finalize a design that is pleasing, suitable to the style of your home, and adds value to your house.

Q: Can you match an existing piece of cabinetry?

A: Yes. We are able to match existing fixtures, doors, or cabinets you may have already. We just need a few photos of the details, and some dimensions from you.

Q: Do you have cabinets in stock?

A: No, every cabinet we sell is designed and built for a particular client.

Q: What type of hardware do you offer?

A: We use Grass full extension under mount soft close drawer slides, and Salice hinges. We have found these brands to be the best in terms of adjustability and durability.
